mpeg 2 decoders

Lawrence Anonymous Visitor	Hi, apparently I dont have any installed, how can I do that? I have a brand new XP setup with nothing apart from sichbo on it.

Hey Lawrence, there are a couple of free ones on the web. The GPL mpeg1/2 decoder works great here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/GPL_MPEG-1_2_DirectShow_Decoder_Filter.htm If you need to playback HD mpeg2 you'll need to use a decoder that supports your brand of video card, or switch to Windows7 which comes with a really great hardware-accelerated MPEG2 and h264 Microsoft video decoder. If you get no sound, you probably need an audio decoder as well, try AC3 filter: http://www.free-codecs.com/AC3_Filter_download.htm
